Un participant la Marea Unire: Preotul dr. Nicolae Popovici (1883-1956)

 
Abstract: Dr. Nicolae Popovici, a priest, represented Gătaia Parish at the Great Union from Alba Iulia in 1918. This paper tries to save from oblivion the life and activity of the illustrious theologian from Banat. Born in Bocșa, in the Mountainous Banat, in 1883, Nicolae Popovici had a PhD in theology awarded by the University of Cernăuți. After passing a competitive examination, he was appointed professor of theology at the Theological Academy in Arad, where he taught Canon Law and Church Administration. In this city, he had impressive didactic, canonical, patriotic and administrative contributions.

Abstract: For the celebration of the Union of Romanian Principalities, a religious and educational event was organised in the parish of Birda. As 2019 was proclaimed the Homage Year of the Romanian Village, an event was organised to popularise Cuza’s rural law and its role in the further development of the Romanian village. The festivity included several contemporary presentations and a photo exhibition.

Abstract: This study is dedicated to Patriarch Justinian and has two parts. One deals with the introduction of the communist regime in România and the church-related administrative achievements of the patriarch from Bucharest. The second provides the history of the church life in Banat as it is reflected in the bishopric periodical that was published in Timișoara for 29 years.

Pr. Prof. Dr. Aurel Jivi. Biobibliografie (1943-2002)*

 
Abstract: A true representative of Banat, priest Aurel Jivi was a tenured professor at the Department of Church History of the “Andrei Șaguna” Faculty of Theology in Sibiu. After 1990, Father Jivi contributed to the opening of several faculties of theology in Oradea, Timișoara and Caransebeș. His scientific work consists of volumes, studies, translations and notes about the history of church from the old times until after the 1989 Revolution.
